BERLIN, Aug. 9 -- Excerpt:

"Jesse Owens, Ohio State's (black) ace, the first American figuring in four Olympic victories since Arthur Kraenzlein in 1900, achieved his fourth gold medal of the eleventh Olympiad, pacing the crack quartet to a 39.8 seconds triumph.

"Owens picked up a good two meters in the first whirl around the turn; Metcalfe added four more; Draper safeguarded them and then Wykoff lengthened the margin to 15 meters, beating Tullio Gonnelli of Italy."
